After googling the subject a bunch and playing around i came across /help.ubuntu. com/community/ SoundTroublesho oting
https:/
and followed all the instructions and towards the end recompiled the alsa drivers which fixed my problem!
dont know how it fixed it, didnt really understand fully what was wrong but im not complaining that that fixed it :)
on Intrepid Ibex 32 bit (x86?) i needed to install the driver for alc889a from the realtek.com website, it was just a generic driver, and it gave me sound with no problems. i installed the driver on a clean install of Jaunty Jackalope
and it didnt give me any sound, but then i recompiled the alsa drivers and it worked fine! anyways, i thank all of you for checking the thread even though i figured it out myself with some rtfming and rtfonlinetutorials :)
