No sound over HDMI audio with intel ICH9 chipset

Bug Description
I get audio output over analog, but when I use pavucontrol to activate the hdmi output profile, I get no sound at all.
On the same hardware I did get intermittent audio out with Lucid, but so far I haven't even gotten that.
