With my HP DV5-1199el precise pangolin makes a crackling noise on reboot. I didn't have this in prior releases.

I'm also experiencing this issue in precise pangolin, but on an HP Pavilion DV6.

Sorry, noob to this forum, but having same issue. Started with 12.04 Beta and never reported it. Just erased the dual boot I had with it and Windows 7. Reinstalled 12.04 LTS by itself and issue persists.
