I can barely hear my speakers when up all the way

Bug Description
So I just installed my Ubuntu 11.10 on my Vaio desktop that previously had windows 7 on it and the sound worked perfectly with windows but since I switched to Ubuntu, even when I turn it up all the way I can barely hear it, any help would be much appreciated.
