Bug Description

Release: 11.10

Installed Ubuntu 11.10 via minimal install cd, completed fine, sound originally only using one channel (mono) rather then stereo, didnt have option for desktop speakers on the drop down list, tried updating asla from ubuntu forums, now my sound hardware doesnt get detected at all, tried downloading realtek hd audio driver from the website and using their ./install command, that completed but still hasnt fixed the problem, apt-cache policy pkgname - N: Unable to locate package pkgname

This release of Ubuntu is no longer receiving maintenance updates. If this is still an issue on a maintained version of Ubuntu please let us know.
