Another workaround is in /etc/pulse/default.pa is to add tsched=0 to the line
load-module module-udev-detect
so that it looks like this
load-module module-udev-detect tsched=0
This disables time-scheduling and causes the popping to disappear. This bug may also be related to the wireless card causing the kernel to crash according to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28106
