Bug Description

Hi,
I have a system that has lost sound twice.
First I upgraded från 10.? to 11.04. Everything was fine. Then suddenly my sound stops working. After some time and changing settings I decide to do a clean 11.04 install.
Great! My sound is back. A week later : same problem again. What can I do to reset the sound system without having to reinstall? Yes I have tried alsamixer and other tips from the sound wiki.

One thing that might have triggered the problem: I muted my sound yesterday (it was working) and turned the computer off for the night with that setting. Then when I rebooted today and the volume icon was showing muted. So I unmuted but still nothing.

When my system boots I here a click from the speakers when the sound card is detected. When the drumroll is supposed to be played at login I get a short bzzt when the system can't play sound. I login and get another bzzt. Otherwise the speakers are silent.
