Audio is working fine on the rear connector, but the front head phones does not produce any sound.

I have found a work around for the issue. run "alsamixer" from a terminal, scroll all the way to the right using right arrow key until I come to the Independent Headphones option and switch it off. Now headphone provides audio output.
