Bug Description

Jacksense is not working with the ATI Technologies Inc Device 1314 sound card on Ubuntu Natty. Plugging in head phones causes sound to come out of both head phones and laptop speakers.

This is an AMD Fusion laptop (with AMD E-350 APU).

I have the same laptop and have the same problem. It's not just ubuntu, it's happening in slackware as well. I hope someone finds a fix for this soon, it's inhibiting my audio production capabilities drastically. Others have this problem here: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1720010.html

Their workaround does not work for me.

For what it is worth, I am not having this problem in Onereic Beta. However, sound doesn't work in flash videos, but where sound does work (e.g., Banshee), the headphone jack does now work.

This is the biggest problem I'm facing with ubuntu 10.04 and my Acer Aspire 5253-BZ684. At this point I'd just be happy to have a way of muting the speakers while the headphones stayed on.. . Problems been here for most of the year, I can't believe someone hasn't figured this out by now.
My laptop is identical to the one mentioned in the OP

Just FYI, I installed the final version of Oneiric (11.10), and it works fine.
