Hi Antonio!

As of Natty, Headphones are only supposed to mute internal speakers, not line-outs. However, upstream is working on to make this behavior configurable, so I assume it will be possible in the next version of Ubuntu, and likely earlier through upgrading alsa (which is not yet available for Natty).

The thing is that even through alsa mixer this is not possible... I think that every output should have a mixer channel but headphones or front line out as you want to call it, isn't modificable. Thanks for your fast reply.

This release of Ubuntu is no longer receiving maintenance updates. If this is still an issue on a maintained version of Ubuntu please let us know.
