HP desktop with no audio or second monitor output [EG642AA-ABA M7260N, Nvidia GPU 0b HDMI/DP, Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all

Fresh install of Ubuntu 11.04. No sound is the main problem. Tried changing settings in GUI, but makes no difference. Using a second monitor with HDMI out and it has no video either. Tried just SVGA cable to second monitor, no change, will not detect second monitor. Turned off DCI data out setting from second monitor as one report suggested, no change.

Solved. Settings inside NVIDIA section of system prefs. not in monitor settings. Re-boot also needed, as was setting system for "Twinview" to get one workspace. Audio seems to be dead on all other outputs if HDMI used, so just using speakers in monitor for now, rather than mess with it any more.
