Bug Description

I have a non-know laptop that have Intel chipset built-in sound card..My unit is Blue Radon W310.. I guess not all of you are familiar with this model... When I installed Ubuntu 10.10 maverick... I noticed that it has no sound, but when i plug in my headset it has no problem...eventhough I could still watch movies, and play music with my headset on, it is not much of a big deal.. but I still want my Ubuntu to run perfectly.. I still wish that i could watch movies without a headset.. I have done all other research which some ubuntu users have experience..no sound on internal speakers... I check the Sound settings, disabled PUlseAudio on startup, which some say that it has conflict with Alsa-driver.. but to no avail I have not yet solved it.. I kindda uninstalled some alsa drivers.. that aplay is not anymore working.. will post my hardware specs that terminal have shown.. a help will be much appreciated..

Did you follow the instructions in the link posted above ( https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/InstallingLinuxAlsaDriverModules ) and rebooted afterwards? Or was it the instructions that confused you?

i checked...
sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base

and the model is MODEL=3stack
which is configured to other codec..

i configured it to hp, hp-3013, and other and to no avail not working..
but it eliminated the fatal error at boot up...
sadly no sound still...
then i changed it to test.. but dont know how to compile it for alsa..
im not of a programmer in ubuntu though.. so having a hard time..

anyway i have backup image my ubuntu , so whatever happens i can return it back to the original settings..when i jam it up with all the tweeking..hehehe
but a bit upset with all my research to no avail .. im all exhausted a bit .. help

maybe the fatal error mobprobe relation is due to the audio that the driver installed is a wrong one.. 3stack which is a different codec for ALC260.. now im on test model.. pls help sir david how will i tweak this out to work...

From the alsa-info it seems BIOS tells us there are no headphone/headset jacks. Also, when you have model=3stack, that also disables your headphone/headset. So you both need to turn that off (i e remove "model=3stack" from /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf), then figure out what pin your headphone is connected to, then write a pin fix quirk to make the change permanent.

Hmm, I should write a small script to help people like yourself figure out what pin is connected to what output, but I don't have the time right now...

yah... i have the correct pin i guess for the headphones but not to the internal speakers..
the model=3stack seems to disable the pin for the speakers....
do you have sir david a link that might help me do the pin fix for this one?

thank you very much for the help.. i appreciate the help
