Bug Description
Couldn't find a bug that mentioned the problem and the fact that
https:/
Would correct the issue for Macbook Pro.
So upstream drivers do work.
Had previously modified the alsa-base.conf with
options snd-hda-intel model=mbp3
and had unmuted all channels with alsamixer.

If the updated alsa drivers allow your audio hardware to work automatically without the need for modprobe options, then that is fine. Future versions of Ubuntu will have newer drivers, removing the need to install update packages.
