Bug Description

Until 10.04 plugging in headphones muted the laptop's speakers and switched over sound to headphone out. Now the sound gets a little quieter but continues to play from the speakers and the headphones.

I've seen that there are other versions of this bug around but appending following lines to my alsa-base.conf didn't change anything.

options snd-hda-intel model=toshiba
options snd-hda-intel model=ideapad

Also I've tried enabling the audio-dev ppa and installing the alsa modules for my kernel but no change.

Ubuntu 10.10, i386

If you still have the driver updates from the Ubuntu Audio Dev PPA installed, please remove any module options you added in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, reboot, and test again to see if anything has changed.

Please also run this command from a terminal: apport-collect -p alsa-base 653737

Luke, I have already removed the lines again as whether they were there or not made no change.
