When you said you installed alsa drivers, what did you do exactly?

I suggest you update your alsa drivers, as outlined here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/InstallingLinuxAlsaDriverModules. Please report back as to whether this helps at all.

I didn't said anything about alsa. Pulseaudio works "out of the box" from
previos version Ubuntu (lucid). This is output "ubuntu-bug audio" command
above. The problem appears after upgrade to beta.

The same problem as bug 637040
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/637040
It can be fixed by add "options snd-hda-intel model=thinkpad" in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

Same problem here. I have an ASUS K52JU notebook.

$ cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0 |grep -i codec
Codec: Conexant CX20585

ubuntu 10.10

$ uname -r
2.6.35-24-generic-pae

I installed "linux-alsa-driver-modules-2.6.35-24-generic-pae" from
ubuntu-audio-dev-ppa-maverick
before trying the solution posted here. I am not sure if this is needed.
Probably not, as alsa version already was 1.0.23. Anyway this is my
alsa version now:

$ cat /proc/asound/version
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.23.
Compiled on Dec 27 2010 for kernel 2.6.35-24-generic-pae (SMP).

I also tried to install linuxant driver, to no avail.

Applying comment #4 (and reboot) has fixed the issue.
Thank you very much!

I had the same problem with Acer Aspire One 521 netbook.

$ cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0 |grep -i codec
Codec: Conexant CX20585

ubuntu 10.10

$ uname -r
2.6.35.10-aopatch (I have build the kernel with patch from http://www.uluga.ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=10126099&postcount=14 , generic kernel did not show battery)

I$ cat /proc/asound/version
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.23.

I tried to install linuxant .deb, tried to build alsa with linuxant patch, nothing helped me.

And applying commend #4 (add "options snd-hda-intel model=thinkpad" to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf) (and reboot) has fixed the issue too!!!

Thank you!
