Bug Description
Startup sounds play properly. Yet audio output doesn't work for Audacity or Totem Movie Player. System thinks it has an Intel sound device, when motherboard actually has a VIA VT1828S chipset.
Please let me know what more information I can provide.
Thanks

Hi Dana,
The reason why it says "Intel" is that your south-bridge chip, controlling the codec, is Intel.
Could you please supply a pulseaudio log according to https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/PulseAudio/ Log , i e, start the log, while it's running with the log on, try to do some playback from audacity (make sure audacity's output setting is set to "alsa: pulse"). Thanks!
