After leaving the machine idle for some time, no sound is audible till sound preferences is opened

Bug Description

I found that if I leave my machine on while e.g. cooking dinner, when I come back to it and attempt to play some audio. No sound will be audible till I open the sound preferences.

Incredibly there is an update and it is even labelled Linux. There is no Changelog so far as I can see so I don't know if it addresses the issue. I've flashed the machine and will follow up once I have tried to trigger the problem.
