Bug Description

In the terminal says:
E: alsa-sink.c: ALSA woke us up to write new data to the device, but there was actually nothing to write!
E: alsa-sink.c: Most likely this is a bug in the ALSA driver 'snd_intel8x0'. Please report this issue to the ALSA developers.
E: alsa-sink.c: We were woken up with POLLOUT set -- however a subsequent snd_pcm_avail() returned 0 or another value < min_avail.

I don't know how that happen. The messages appears on my terminal as background process.

I use Karmic with ubuntu kernel 2.6.30-9-generic

I have the same problem with pulseaudio on my machine using Karmic, with nvidia ck8s audio hardware. I can't get pulseaudio to play any sound consistently :-(

You need to use Karmic's kernel, 2.6.21-14.48-generic or newer, with Karmic.

Isn't this version ok?

I won't be able to produce logs until Tuesday night, since I have no proper access to that computer right now.
What happened is that I upgraded my HTPC to 9.10, and I have no sound at all through PA. Direct alsa access works.
Sometimes I got stuttering audio from totem, if I used alsamixer to unmute all channels. The log of PA when changing volume with the tray icon said something like setting 100%, got 0%, final 0%, and would set all levels to zero in alsa. I'll get you the logs next week.
I also got the warning about the driver bug, but I'll try to confirm it again, since I was playing in desperation with the buggy_irq parameter of snd_Intel8x0 and it could have something to do with it.

Shows up in syslog every boot. Karmic fully updated w/-16 kernel. No adverse issues - other than the wasted log space.

Has anyone bothered to post this on ALSA's bug tracker? I would, but it seems as though their cert expired in July...
