Bug Description

problems:
1. when playing an audio (an mp3) or a video file with totem, i hear vibrations in the audio, the same is happening with pidgin sounds (when I play the same video files with vlc media player I do not listen those vibrations I said, but I still listen the vibrations in pidgin sounds)
2. audio is always too down in comparison with other operating system like Microsoft windows vista

Sound / audio problem

general :
- Ubuntu start up sound is breaking/cracking
- VLC and other applications : with some films the sound is to low (ok with XP on the same machine)
- VLC and other applications : with normal volume the sound is breaking (ok with XP on the same machine)

environment :
Ubuntu 8.04.2 desktop Linux 2.6.24-24-generic
Motherboard : Gigybate M61 PME-S2
on board audio : PCI MCP61 nVidia
audio chip : Realtek ALC 662 rev 1
