Bug Description

After a recent upgrade in dapper the volume up and down hotkeys on my keyboard no longer work. If I press volume up it mutes after about two presses and the same with volume down. The osd appears but the level indicator is blank. The mute key still works fine. All other hotkeys are unaffected.

Sound card: Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value
Keyboard: Microsoft Internet Keyboard

Not sure what versions of packages to report because I'm not sure how hotkeys are handled.

That bug is independent from the keyboard (here the same problem with a Logitech iTouch Internet Navigator Keyboard SE and an Audigy 2)

Thanks for your bug. Does the mixer applet works fine?

Ah it seems to be fixed by the latest control-center or alsa update.

Does anyone know exactly what package this was fixed in? I'm on a supposedly completely upgraded system, yet still have no volume raise/lower from the keyboard.

My keyboard is the relatively rare Logitech S510, which doesn't actually have a "keyboard model" option in the keyboard config, but with the model I've selected the keyboard shortcuts config does correctly recognise the buttons as XF86Audio*.

Looking at the output from xev, the raise lower buttons trigger very differently from the mute button. As I have no idea whether that's supposed to be the case, I won't describe it unless anyone requests.

I have the same problem in feisty, in a sony vaio laptop: VGN-FE31H. The keys used to work OK, but some update about 2 weeks ago broke their functionality.

When I press any of the OSD info appears, but the bar is empty, and does not increase.
I can change the volume in sound volume applet.
Mute key works fine.

Sound card is an "Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)"
