snd-hda-intel internal microphone not working, sound recording not working at all

Bug Description
It seems that for many models snd-hda-intel does not get the internal microphone working: see for example bug #141445 or bug #63401. It also does not work for me (Lenovo Thinkpad R61i, Conexant CX20549 (Venice)).

On some models not even an external microphone is working, as it comes with a _HUGE_ noise and extremely jerky sound. See bug #69306 .
