Bug Description

Binary package hint: alsa-source

When the alsa-modules are compiled for ubuntu, they don't include the additional options necessary to support the various flavors of Intel HDA Cards:

The following options need to be added to the configure script when the alsa modules are compiled:
--with-card-options=hda-codec-realtek,hda-codec-analog,hda-codec-sigmatel,hda-codec-via,hda-codec-atihdmi,hda-codec-conexant,hda-codec-cmedia,hda-codec-si3054,hda-generic

If these options aren't included, the drivers install fine, and seem to work in every way, except that no sound is produced.

System Info:
Description: Ubuntu 8.04
Release: 8.04
alsa-source:
  Installed: 1.0.16-0ubuntu4
  Candidate: 1.0.16-0ubuntu4

I think half the problem with my mic port is that I have no Gain controls and the other necessary controls.
I am using Intrepid at the moment.

I'm getting a problem where snd-hda-intel loads and detects my HDMI out, but not the normal outputs I used to have. Is that related? Things worked fine with Ubuntu 8.10, and they stopped on update to Jaunty

I have detailed my problems here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/425435

Can you tell from this information if this is my problem?

If so, what should I do to fix it on my computer?

Thanks.
Victoria

Victoria, I don't believe so. This problem only affected Ubuntu 8.04.
