[Acer Swift 5 SF514-53T] No sound at all from the inbuilt microphone - since installation of system

The inbuilt microphone has never worked on the version of ubuntu on this computer. The hardware works completely fine on other operating systems (Windows).

I have seek very long to find the solution on Switf5 Acer. the solution is :
sudo gedit /etc/default/grub

then change :
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" par GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash snd_hda_intel.dmic_detect=0" and save

then

sudo update-grub

then restart your computer

Thanks for looking into this.

However, this doesn't appear to do anything, because for me the booting log has a line with the following:

snd_hda_intel: unknown parameter 'dmic_detect' ignored

And indeed there is nothing in the /sys/modules/snd_hda_intel/parameters of this sort. Does your system have this parameter in that folder?

I wonder if I should try to update the drivers or something.

I am using Acer Swift SF514-52T. This issue disappeared after I upgraded to Ubuntu 21.10.
