Bug Description

Connecting my Bluetooth headset (Beoplay H8) appears to be working, and everything looks correct in the Bluetooth settings: However, the headset is not listed under "Output devices" in the sound menu after connecting, and all sounds are channeled through the built-in speakers.

Media buttons on the headset are also rendered useless, not that there would be much use for them without sound anyways. Still worth noting, as everything including media buttons worked perfectly in 18.10.

Thanks for the bug report. The intermediate sound layer (PulseAudio) hasn't changed between 18.10 and 19.04 so this is either going to be a kernel problem or a GUI problem (gnome-control-center).

Please try some older kernels (like 4.18 which was in Ubuntu 18.10) and tell us if that fixes the problem:

I can't seem to figure out how to boot to an older kernel on this laptop. Shift and Escape does noting, while the menus opened by F-buttons fail to give advanced boot settings. It's all within the UEFI safety net (which I kind of appreciate after years of BIOS trouble).

I know I have old kernel versions installed (if dpkg --list | grep linux-image is anything to go by).

If it's any help, pavucontrol also fails to detect the headset, while "bluetoothctl" returns "Agent registered // [Beoplay H8]#". So given that pavucontrol is completely separate from Gnome control center, this should not be a GUI problem?

I'm sorry for not being more helpful!

To get to the grub menu and select a different installed kernel, you need to be fast. The instant the purple screen first appears on boot, tap Escape.
