Audio is almost unusable. In VLC or default media players sound is choppy and skipping.

When I have headphones in the sound is ok. When its playing via the laptop speakers its skipping crackling and pretty unusable.

The speakers ok I have tested them.
I have turned off automute with alsamixer still no luck.
