Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I am also having this issue in Jaunty Jackalope. What information do you need to continue this? It is currently blocking my use of the S/PDIF connector on my laptop (making the "media center" sound pretty horrid).

Thanks,
Danny.

Hey Florian,

When you say the sound output works fine does that include optical out?
That is my biggest need at the moment. Decommissioned the G30 as a work laptop and is now becoming a media centre.

Cheers,
Danny.

Sorry the report was incomplete in that point.
I can't test the optical output due to lack of hardware. It doesn't seem to work as the optical out should be in "visible" red when working - right?
My main concern is my microphone as I can't use skype or other communication stuff and have to switch to m$ windows all the time :(

Adding alsa-base to packages.
Would someone with Jaunty having issues with this please run "apport-collect 151913" without quotes please?
This should pull in enough information that this can be considered triaged and passed on to developers.
Thank you.
