Bug Description

I had sound before I upgraded from 15.04 to 15.10.

It detects that the headphones are plugged in, but no sound at all.

Speaker works.

Since I have the same sound driver I think my solution may be correct. I didn't have sound and it turned out that somehow alsa had mixed up my headphone and microphone jack. Try
sudo apt-get install alsa-tools-gui
Then open with
hdajackretask
It was simple for me to switch the microphone with the headphone and everything started working. By the way I noticed this by plugging in my headphones into my microphone jack and all the sudden it was recognized as a headphone, but sound still didn't work because it was a microphone jack. I'm guessing you would of noticed if this was the case, but it took me a long time to try this.
