Bug Description
X-fi PCI-e card seems to be the issue. Hasn't worked since, I believe, kernel 3.8.x - sound failed on Ubuntu 14.10 and 15.04.
Last working config was using 14.04 on, I believe, kernel 3.8.x - although Google tells me 14.04.2 used kernel 3.16 ... I vaguely recall rolling back to an earlier kernel as a workaround that persisted until I recently installed 15.04.
