[Dell Latitude E5450, Realtek ALC293] Microphone is being detected as headphone

Bug Description

External microphone is not working when plugged into the headset(combo) jack, even plugging headset(four rings) into the jack the headset micrphone will not working.
However built-in (next to webcam) micrphone works perfectly, with above situation.

Step to reproduce:

1. plug the headset or microphone connector into the headset jack on the side of laptop

Expected result:

Recording voice with plugged/exertnal microphone

Actual result:

Recording only went throug the buil-in microphone.

This should have been fixed in bug 1297581. Hui, could you take a look?

This problem was fixed and was in the upstream already. This fix used Codec pin quirk framework,but this framework was not in the linux-3.13, so this fix was not backported to Trusty kernel.

If users install the latest alsa daily dkms, this problem will disappear.

Got two questions here:

Can I get the latest alsa package you mentioned about, I would like to check this in advance.

And does this planning to be backported for kernel-3.13?

you can get the latest alsa dkms at https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-audio-dev/+archive/ubuntu/alsa-daily/+packages

so far, there is no plan to backport to kernel-3.13.
