Bug Description
I tried to fix the alsa-base.conf, however I am not sure what the default configuration should be.Either way, I do hear the test tone but it doesnt alternate between speakers/channels. It just sounds one constant tone. The same happens when i do a speaker-test, i get pink noise through the same output, even though it reads front-left, front-right, center, lfe ....it plays sound while displaying those 4, however the sound comes through the lfe from what it sounds like (the sound only plays through one output).
If you have a preferred alsa-base.conf or a way for me to overwrite it, let me know and we can proceed. I modified it due to this problem. Since installing Ubuntu I have not had the sound working properly so I have been trying configuration edits (with no success so far).
I noticed no subdevices are displayed.
I am not sure how the card decides where to send sound to but the interesting thing is that when testing in Pulseaudio I get sound playing when clicking front-left, front-right but nothing from clicking subwoofer. And again, the front-left and front-right all play the tone through the same speaker..theres no difference and apparently my guess is not all of my speakers are being detected as available options because I also only have (1) speaker control in Alsamixer.
Surely there must be some way to get 2.1 speakers correctly configured?
