Bug Description

Laptop model: Sony VAIO SVS1513M1EW
Soundcard model: Realtek ALC275

Ubuntu version: 13.04
libasound2 version: 1.0.25-4ubuntu3.1
pulseaudio version: 1:3.0-0ubuntu6

Problem: Volume is very low (even inaudible on the speakers, and very low on headphones). The volume in Windows 8 is OK (this is a dual-boot system).

What I've tried so far:

- Playing with the levels in pulseaudio
- Turning up all the channels in alsamixer
-Installing puvacontrol and playing with the settings there
- Update the driver through https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa/DKMS

Can I fix this myself Raymond?

In hda_analyzer, I tried toggling a pin on Node 0x14 that said "OUT" from on to off (it was the only pin that had the OUT label, so I assume that was the one), but it did not fix the low volume level.

Do I need to do more steps before this is applied? Exit hda_analyzer, reboot, ...?

you may try adding SND_PCI_QUIRK for your SONY VAIO ALC275

 SND_PCI_QUIRK(0x104d, 0x907b, "Sony VAIO", ALC275_FIXUP_SONY_HWEQ),
        SND_PCI_QUIRK(0x104d, 0x9084, "Sony VAIO", ALC275_FIXUP_SONY_HWEQ),
+ SND_PCI_QUIRK(0x104d, 0x909b, "Sony VAIO", ALC275_FIXUP_SONY_HWEQ),
        SND_PCI_QUIRK_VENDOR(0x104d, "Sony VAIO", ALC269_FIXUP_SONY_VAIO),

Turns out I had to be a bit more patient, sorry. Changed the PIN status from"OUT" to "zero" (that is the other way around, but the way? Or do I interpret the label wrong?), rebooted, and now the sound volume is fine.

Anyway, still looks like a bug to me.
