Crackling audio on Ubuntu 13.04 on Lenovo Thinkpad X230

I get crackling audio through the headphones when Skype notification messages sound. No issues when using Pandora though. Similar to this bug. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1174696
