Bug Description
Hi,
on a new computer (samsung all-in-one), and on a live ubuntu disk 12.04 x64, my sound card is not detected.
I have checked many forums for several months and cannot find the fix.
I have two sound cards, motherboard and hdmi. Only the hdmi gets detected by alsa. It is not good as I am only using the motherboard one.
The dmesg shows "no codecs initialized" for the first card.

The same happens on other debian linux distributions. Before I change my distribution to ubuntu, I would like to make sure the sound can work on ubuntu.
Happy to help debugging this if necessary.
Many thanks in advance.
First, I suggest upgrading your ALSA module (no point in lengthy debugging if it's already been fixed upstream): /wiki.ubuntu. com/Audio/ UpgradingAlsa/ DKMS
https:/
If, after restarting, that doesn't help, then I would try with probe_mask option in /etc/modprobe. d/alsa- base.conf d/alsa- base.conf
Open the file for editing:
gksu gedit /etc/modprobe.
Add a line like this to the end of the file:
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=0 probe_mask=8
Save. Quit. Restart ALSA (You can restart ALSA without restarting your machine with this command):
sudo alsa force-reload
Another idea is a BIOS update, but that's a long shot.
