Bug Description

07 Dec 2012 I installed the latest ubuntu 12.04 updates on my Pavilion dv6 laptop. This came with a kernel update 3.2.0-35

I always leave my headphones connected to the jacks (left side, mic=red, ears=black). I don't use the built-in speakers very often and don't unplug my headphones.

I noticed something strange after latest package updates and restarting because there is now a light on the keyboard f11 / mute key showing the sounds is muted. This didn't happen before.

If I unplug the headphones then the light goes out and it unmutes. I can hear sound through the laptop speakers. Both +/- volume buttons work and mute key work and the OSD displays correctly.

When I reconnect the headphones the light comes on f11 mute key and the sound disappears. The OSD still shows the master volume as 100%

I went into system setttings.... sound... changed the connector from Headphones to Speakers and it seems to fix the problem but this is not permanent, as I now have to do this after every reboot.

It used to work perfectly well before Yesterday so is there a way I can get it back the way it was? Thanks for any help.

how many internal speakers in this note book ?

the bug is headphone is connected to 0x13 which has s speaker playback switch (muted when heasphone plug in)

it is strange that speakers pins and headphone pin are.not connected to 0x1c since the analog mixer 0x1b is not used since it can also connected 0x13 or 0x14

use alsamixer to change two speaker playback volume and switches and find out which node 0x0d or 0x0f is the real internal speaker

if there is only stereo speaker and no subwoofer.
you need to a pin fixup to the pin default of non exist speaker node from [Fixed] to [N/A]
