Bug Description

No sound. Nothing at all. Not even the cute drumming sound on logout.

I can get sound for about ten seconds by tweaking the sound type in Sound > Sound Settings.... When I do that the sound is terrible quality for about ten seconds before it shuts off again.

I've tried *everything*: killing pulse, unmuting everything in alsamixer... While I'm at it, I didn't see any mute control under "Master", just a blank spot.
