Bug Description

On ubuntu 12.10, when booting with the new kernel, the microphone works, there is no sound from the headphones socket or speakers. However, when booting 12.10 with the old kernel from 12.04 the microphone does not record but the headphone socket and speakers work fine. My bug report is restricted to the issues with the new kernel.

I am attaching the alsa-info output when booting with the new and old kernel.

My full laptop model is Packard Bell EasyNote V7912, and should have the same sound hardware as the V7900.

if you look at the functional block diagram of alc260 datasheet

there are volume control 0x08. 0x09 and 0x0a for LOUT1, LOUT2 and mono out

LOUT1 can be connected to 0x0f and (0x12, 0x13, 0x14, 0x15)

LOUT2 can be connected to 0x10 and (0x12, 0x13, 0x14, 0x15)

it is strange that availability of headphone port is YES when headphone jack detect kcontrol is FALSE and there is no headphone playback volume control for he headphone path

Regarding the models, when they came out in 2006 there were a number of people with different models in the V7900 series without sound. pshou from Realtek provided a patch which appeared to work for all the models.

I will send Takashi Iwai a short note to alert him of the issue.

unsolicited event was not enabled at node 0x0f

but the pin fix from line out (misc=no_presence) to a hp with detection

and this change enabled the unsolicited event and create the headphone jack detection.control

it seem that utomute is peformed by hardware which cannot provide jack state to user space
