Bug Description

On Ubuntu 12.10, sound works fine fter initial boot, but after suspend-resume, sound stops working. I'm using a Dell Studio 1458 laptop with the following audio card (according to lspci): Audio device: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset High Definition Audio (rev 05).

Here are the tests results with kernels in mainline:

-with all Quantal kernel 3.5 and below, sound works fine (including 3.5.0-030500)
-with Quantal kernel 3.6.2 kernel, sound is not working

Otherwise, I've tested the regular (as provided in official repository) 3.5.0-17 kernel with KDE (so nothing from Unity/Gnome loaded), and the problem is also occurring.

WORKAROUND: disabling auto-mute in alsamixer
