Alltray doesn't work when Visual Effects are activated

Bug Description
Binary package hint: alltray
On Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron alltray does not work properly if the Visual Effects are activated.
The opened window is not minimised in the notification tray and clicking on the cross icon closes the window instead of minimize it.
Try for instance
$ alltray gnome-terminal
However an icon appears in the notification tray and it is still possible to minimise the application through the right-click menu > Show/Hide command.
