alexandria's "read" checkbox is not working

The checkbox "read" is not being marked when clicking it in the main book list. However, a book can be marked as read from its properties dialog.

Confirmed in Hardy (0.6.3-0ubuntu2) However, none of the the checkboxes work (Read, Own, or Want).
