Bug Description

Binary package hint: alarm-clock

In the alarm list of alarm-clock 0.3.0, when I double-click on an alarm, sometimes the time/duration of the alarm changes.

See the following screencast, http://dl.dropbox.com/u/368761/bugreport/alarmclock-bug-dblclickchangestime.ogv , showing that:
 1. In addition to opening the setup box, double-clicking my "Workweek 7:30" alarm changed the alarm time from 7:30 to 7:00
 2. Double-clicking my "Washing machine" alarm didn't do anything apart from opening the setup box (correct, expected behaviour)
 3. In addition to opening the setup box, double-clicking my "Nap" alarm changed the timer duration from 00:20:00 to 00:00:00
Quite a severe bug for an alarm clock...

I reported the bug via ubuntu-bug, see the attachments for extra debug information.

Due to the mess between this project (formerly alarm-clock-applet, LP:alarm-clock, pkgname:alarm-clock-applet), and another project (alarm-clock, LP: alarmclock, pkgname: alarm-clock), version information didn't get installed correctly. So here is my version of alarm-clock: 0.3.0-1+joh1, installed from the PPA.

By the way, this confusion between your respective package names and LP names is very embarrassing, do you plan to do something about it?

Right, ubuntu-bug reported a bug against ubuntu, and in ubuntu, alarm-clock means it affects project LP:alarmclock. You really must do something about this, guys... I'm leaving the bug as New so that the author can see this mess before marking it as invalid.

Hmm, that's weird - the package name of LP:alarm-clock is alarm-clock-applet. Are you sure you selected the correct package "alarm-clock-applet" in ubuntu-bug?

Uhm you're right, I must have run a ubuntu-bug on the wrong package.
Still, ubuntu-bug doesn't like your package (see for yourself in the following screenshot).

I originally thought the bug depicted in the screenshot was caused by the fact that 0.3.0 is from a PPA, and it makes sense for ubuntu-bug to refuse reporting bugs in this case. So I've downgraded alarm-clock-applet to 0.2.6 that is in the repositories, but the problem persists, with the same error message. Any ideas?

summary: - Double-clicking on alarm erratically changes alarm time/duration

Hmm, here "ubuntu-bug alarm-clock-applet" works perfectly. Do you still have my PPA in your sources? If so, try removing it and running ubuntu-bug again.

Works after removing your PPA from my sources, then as expected Apport opens my browser at

Closing this bug.

I didn't know about this Apport feature, thanks for the hint!
BTW, maybe Apport could be a bit more specific in its error message (#559345); I made a quick hack to improve this, let's see if it's merged.
