Bug Description

Well, depending on your point of view this may be an old feature restored, but in Unity (Oneiric Ocelot) it would be nice to have the option of using a global menu for consistency with other applications. It took me a while to adjust to global menus but now I'd hate to have to use two different UI paradigms at the same time.

I can confirm that the global menu for aisleriot was broken in every version after 3.2.0 (if you roll back to that version in 11.10, the global menu works again...it was broken with updates).

This unnecessary inconsistency is terribly annoying. I really hope this can be fixed for 12.04 (this bug is still in precise beta 2).

It affects only 2 of the Gnome games - AisleRiot Solitaire and Freecell Solitaire. The other 3 - Mines, Soduko, Mahjong; work with the global menu just fine. This is on 12.04.4
