Bug Description

Binary package hint: aide

the cron job to run aide fails as follows:

The cron job was terminated because lock /var/run/aide/cron.daily.lock could not be obtained.

/etc/cron.daily/aide:
dotlockfile: /var/run/aide: no such directory
run-parts: /etc/cron.daily/aide exited with return code 1

Assessment
The aide cron job relies on the directory '/var/run/aide/' that has not been created. This is not an installation issue as the directories in /var/run are only created post-boot and are removed during startup/shutdown.

Possible Resolution
Create a patch to /etc/cron.daily/aide that will create the required directory if it does not exist. - I attach a patcgh that we used to do this on our system - and it seems to work without problem.
