Bug Description

Hi, I am using the BQ M10 with OTA-12 update. I tried the wifi remote screen cast function with an EZcast 5G TV dongle. Although the M10 found the EZcast dongle, when clicked on it the on screen(TV) pin number was displayed on the M10 so the unit would not connect. Can you please have a look at this issue.

Thanks for your great work,

Regards

Dave H

Hi, sorry regarding the above I meant to say the EZcast pin is not requested on the BQ M10 so you cant connect to the EZcast dongle evnd if found by the M10 tablet.

This would be basically WPS PIN support in aethercast which we don't have yet.

Hi Simon, thanks for your reply. I guess the Microsoft Display Adapter used for the MX5 / BQ M10 display casting demo’s seen on the web must have the option for open, NO PIN required. Unfortunately I cant see this option on the low cost EZcast unit I have. I would have thought most people will purchase a lower cost miracast dongle such as the EZcast, as opposed to the high cost Microsoft product. Do you know a way round this, or when WPS PIN will be added to aethercast.

Your support is appreciated,

Best regards

Sadly, we don't have any direct plan right now to add support for WPS PIN in aethercast. This would also involve UI work to get things properly setup. Can you retry the connection and give me the content of /var/log/upstart/aethercast.log? Maybe there is a way we can workaround this.

Hi Simon,

Thanks for the above, I wonder if you could add the WPS PIN to the list!. Regarding the aethercast log, I managed to find the file, but couldn’t open it using file manager. Gedit in Xapps cant see hidden files, so had to use adb shell and make the tablet RW to locate and copy the file using my pc and cp command (I am no software eng, but keen to have a go!). I have attached the latest log so you can have a look. Let me know how you get on, or if you need any of the other older log files.

Thanks for your help,

Regards
