Bug Description

I first noticed this in the last month or so, on a regularly patched Kubuntu 9.0.4.

After Firefox has been open for a while (a couple of hours?) Flash video playback becomes jittery. The video will freeze, but the audio will generally continue playing.

Playing the same video in Opera, or restarting Firefox and playing the same video, is guaranteed to smooth the video playback. Trying to restart the video or waiting for the video to be fully buffered, without starting Firefox, does not help.

It's not a networking issue - I can generally see that the Flash player has plenty of video buffered ahead of the playback position.

There was no need to open this since flash has nothing to do with firefox and the one you added was for upstream bug info.

Hello? Did you read the part about firefox being implicated?

a) It never happens under Opera
b) It only happens when Firefox has been open for at least a few hours, regardless of whether I've played Flash videos

For reference, somebody started a reddit thread about this same issue. It seems like many people are having problems with the flash/firefox combination.

This is happening to me too, but rather than restart firefox all the time I started using Pandora Radio (long-running flash w/ sound, the perfect candidate to be messed up by this) in Konqueror. It has the exact same problem, getting all messed up after a while, but I can restart it without affecting firefox :)

So: this affects konqueror too, and is thus not a firefox-only issue.

I have this problem in konqueror, firefox and chrome on ubunto 9.04 with latest flash plugin (10).
After having either browser open for a day or so, all audio produced by flash apps stutters and loops hooribly.
Only solution is to re-start the browser. This is very annoying, specially if you are used to never log-out or shut-down and to having many browser windows and tabs open.
I think it is a bug in libflashplayer.so.

This bug is quiet old now.
Can you reproduce this newer versions of Ubuntu?
