Bug Description

Binary package hint: adept

When I tell Adept to install flashplugin-nonfree, it _appears_ to hang. I first thought it was a network problem until I clicked "show details". Then I saw that what had happened is that the installer assumed that it had a terminal and was waiting on me to accept a license.

Adept somehow needs to know that a terminal is REQUIRED. Otherwise, how is the user going to know to click show-details? There is no warning and nothing to tell the user that something is unusual going on. Instead, it just sits there and waits.

It’s not just that the user doesn’t know what’s wrong until he clicks the “Show details” button. There is also no possibility to get rid of the hanging. At least, I cannot see any way to make Adept send some input like a “Return” to debconf. I have the same hanging problem when updating a Linux kernel image under Debian 4.0.
