Bug Description

I have installed manually a package in dapper flight 6 (freepops 0.0.98), after that I have installed with adept a previous version of the same package (0.0.96).

During updating to the previous version of the package a question occurs: if I want to overwrite the configuration file with the version that I was installing.
However adept doesn't stop waiting for keyboard answer to this question, it aborts installation with generic error.

The package probably is installed anyway, but the configuration file is still the old one.
Making the same thing but installing all manually (right click on the deb file -> install) it wait for answer.

P.S.=
Another small cosmetic bug is when in adept I press "details" to view what is doing, the first line that prints is divided in 3 lines.

My bug (61932) was marked a duplicate of this one. Does that mean it's confirmed?

Anyhow, it sounds to me like the REAL bug in YOUR case is that it's even bothering to ask if you want to overwrite the config file. Shouldn't the pre/post-install script automatically merge your old config changes into the new file?

fixed in latest feisty packages.

Likely to be backported to edgy.

There are many who are stuck on Dapper, because we CANNOT upgrade. Much horror results when we try. It would be most agreeable if these fixed could be backported to Dapper as well.

A variation of this bug, I found this when installing VDR plugin for mplayer from Universe repository.

The installation waits for some user inputs such as default dir, hardware make etc., but the console is hidden in adept, and user has to guess from the stalled progress bar that something is wrong. Clicking on details shows the waiting console.

Adept should display the console when the installation script requires user input or, installation scripts should be sanitized to complete installation with defaults
