Bug Description

I'm working on (K)ubuntu 8.10, alpha (I upgraded to 4th, but it must be the 5th right now).

The matter is that on the Adept Add/Remove, there are two "Krita"s, one for the real Krita, and other that installs Gimp. Actually this last one has the Gimp description. There also a package called "Gimp", for Gimp installation.

OK, this is very strange. I just closed and opened adept installer, to see if the Krita-Gimp package would disappear. And that's what I've got searchinf for Krita: (see attachement).

Krita-kde4 is providing a desktop it shouldn't, which causes the 3rd duplicate. The other two are due to the .desktop in /usr/share/app-install-data for krita and krita-kde4 sharing the same package name.

The point it that this has happened again, this time with another aplication, so I think the problem is the search engine that Adept Installer uses. I attach one more sccreenshot. It seems to happen when I search for something, and then, when I search another time for something, old and new searchs get mixed.

There are two issues in this bug report with similar effects. Krita, krita-kde4, and krita-data all have the same name in their app-install-data entries which confuses adept and causes it to give all 3 applications the same descriptions. krita-data shouldn't be showing up here anyway, but that's another bug in krita.

The wrong-description bug is reproducible in my testing and indeed is a bug in adept. I will work on getting instructions to reproduce and forward this on up to upstream in a bit.

Steps to reproduce:
- Open Adept Installer
- Search for "worm"
- Click on the wormux package
- Search for "alien arena"

Alien arena's package description will now be that of wormux.

Removing redundant adept tag since this bug already shows up in adept's buglist.
Removing krita & gimp tags since this bug doesn't really have much to do with krita or gimp.

Will be fixed in adept 3.0~beta4ubuntu4, which will be released right after RC freeze is over.

Note that the app-install-data found while reporting this bug have not been fixed. They have separate bug reports filed somewhere.
