Bug Description

Binary package hint: adept

In earlier versions of the Kubuntu Intrepid alphas, there was an icon shown in the system tray that would notify me of any outstanding upgrades (I believe this was provided by "adept_notifier").

After upgrading to adept 3.0~beta1, this icon is gone, and the system does not warn me of any outstanding updates any longer - which is bad as these might very well be essential security updates.

The adept-notifier component has been moved to the update-notifier-kde package. It's included in main and should be included by default with the Intrepid beta1 release. (See bug 260484)
Until then you can install it manually.
