Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

kubuntu 7.10 installed from disk, on restarting adept-triangle in system tray; activated by clicking.
adept update downloads en installs 42 updates from list it has generated itself.
adept stops at installing libqt3-mt. Error screen displays message:" packets can be broken " if continuing installer, so it stops.
check ok. Then (other bug?) upgrade-message to version 7.10 appears.
not updated are libqt3-mt
kdelibs4c2a
adept-manager
adept-installer
adept-updater
adept-notifier
adept-batch
adept
kdesudo

I tried this on 3 totally different computers, each has the same sequence ending in error-message , after ok also the mentioned upgrade-message.

confirmed
libqt3-mt update makes adept unusable; this bug should be "critical"

I also have the same problem with the gutsy kubuntu install. I have tried re-installing twice, with the same results.

My workaround is to de-select the libqt3-mt upgrade. Kubuntu seems to still work without this being upgraded.

I had another similar error after updates today (deselected openoffice updates, but allowed other packages in the update list to update) followed by adept crash.
And as always "sudo dpkg --configure -a" fixed locked adept:

sudo dpkg --configure -a
Setting up libc6 (2.6.1-1ubuntu10) ...

Setting up ttf-opensymbol (1:2.3.0-1ubuntu5.3) ...
Updating fontconfig cache...

Processing triggers for libc6 ...
ldconfig deferred processing now taking place

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Looks like the problem is that Adept fails to ask the question about overwriting a configuration file. This particular bug has already been reported and is a duplicate of bug 158043, so it is being marked as such. Please look at the other bug report to see if there is any missing information that you can provide, or to see if there is a workaround for the bug. Additionally any further discussion regarding the bug should occur in the other report. Feel free to continue to report any other bugs you may find.
