Bug Description

Binary package hint: acroread

I installed acroread (9.1.0-7intrepid1) from the partner repository and there seem to be some checksum errors in the package:

root@host~# debsums -s acroread
debsums: checksum mismatch acroread file /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Reader/intellinux/lib/libldap.so
debsums: checksum mismatch acroread file /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Reader/intellinux/lib/liblber.so
debsums: checksum mismatch acroread file /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Reader/intellinux/lib/libORBit-2.so
debsums: checksum mismatch acroread file /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Reader/intellinux/lib/libbonobo-2.so
debsums: checksum mismatch acroread file /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Reader/intellinux/lib/libbonobo-activation.so
debsums: checksum mismatch acroread file /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Reader/intellinux/lib/libgnomespeech.so
debsums: checksum mismatch acroread file /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Reader/GlobalPrefs/.config

Our bcfg2 client doesn't like this, perhaps the maintainer could update the package?

Hi,

I get the following:

debsums: can't open acroread file /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Reader/intellinux/lib/libldap.so (No such file or directory)
debsums: can't open acroread file /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Reader/intellinux/lib/liblber.so (No such file or directory)
debsums: checksum mismatch acroread file /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Reader/GlobalPrefs/.config

The first two are due to some non-standard symlink handling. The last is due to the fact that on install, that file is updated. I'll look into getting these corrected in the next version. I appreciate your continuing to bring this to my attention.

As for the mismatches for the other files, that is strange. Do you still see that in 9.3?

No, only those three files in 9.3. I don't know if it is still worth fixing those hardy packages, but getting the package fixed for 10.04 would be nice.

Also confirming those three files for acroread 3.1-1karmic1 on lucid

debsums -s acroread
debsums: changed file /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Reader/intellinux/lib/libldap.so (from acroread package)
debsums: changed file /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Reader/intellinux/lib/liblber.so (from acroread package)
debsums: changed file /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Reader/GlobalPrefs/.config (from acroread package)

I do think it's worth fixing in Hardy as it's an LTS and supported until April 2011.

Hi, a new acroread release (0.9.4) is available for update, could you give it a try and tell us if the problem persists?
If you still have this bug please set back the status to "new"
thanks
